What would you put in a time capsule?

Time Capsules – what fun!

This has been a hot issue for one NC community!

Asheville NC recently opened a time capsule created in 1897 found under the Vance Monument.  What’s neat, is that the newspaper of the day, The Asheville Daily Citizen provided a list of what was supposedly placed inside (see link above).

The actual contents were unveiled a couple of weeks ago and this post has some images of some of what was included.

A very interesting element of the time capsule is that it included “only known copy of a black newspaper.”

This is not the first time capsule discovered in 2015.  A 1795 time capsule was found in Boston earlier this year.  Read What Was Found Inside the Oldest American Time Capsule to learn more.  And, a 1917 time capsule was recently finally located -- Passavant Retirement Village time capsule is finally found

And now, Asheville NC is planning a new time capsule to again place under the monument to be opened in 100 years (2115), and there is much discussion about what should go in the new time capsule.

What would you put in a time capsule to be opened in 100 years to represent your community today?
