La genealogía hispana en Rootstech
Empresas, profesionales y entusiastas de la Genealogía y la historia familiar acuden cada año a RootsTech, que celebrará su cuarta edición del 6 al 8 de febrero en Salt Lake City (Utah). El evento se ha hecho conocido por colocar la tecnología a los pies de la historia familiar, presentando numerosas opciones para que los usuarios se valgan de herramientas, software y dispositivos con los que avanzar en su investigación
genealógica.
La amplia comunidad hispana residente en Norteamérica, junto a los numerosos descendientes de españoles y quienes siguen desde los países hispanoamericanos las novedades de RootsTech, merecían un lugar en ese mosaico de orígenes y genealogías. Afortunadamente, la propia feria supo verlo en la pasada edición de 2013, acogiendo la primera conferencia en castellano que, con el título de “Encuentra registros españoles desde tu sofá”, puso el primer ladrillo sobre el que edificar para ediciones posteriores.
Yo tuve el privilegio de ser quien impartió esa conferencia, sorprendiéndome gratamente con el entusiasmo y las ganas que tenemos los hispanohablantes de que nos ofrezcan contenido en nuestra lengua, ya sean conferencias, recursos, software…
En los próximos días, seré una vez más uno de los ponentes de Rootstech 2014, y sinceramente, estoy muy ilusionada y orgullosa de dirigirme a la comunidad hispana y compartir información que estoy seguro de que será muy valiosa y enriquecedora para sus búsquedas familiares.
La primera clase, “5 recursos esenciales en la Genealogía Hispana”, reunirá por primera vez en un hangout (videoconferencia) a cinco expertos de diferentes áreas geográficas – Chile/Perú, Argentina, Centroamérica, España y México -, quienes compartirán cinco recursos capaces de aportar datos y pistas a investigadores de muchos países del mundo hispano. RootsTech ha considerado el interés de esta clase y la ha incluido en el grupo de las que serán retransmitidas en centenares de centros de historia familiar a lo largo de 2014.
“MailChimp y los boletines familiares”, segunda de las citas programadas para esta edición en nuestro idioma, propondrá un uso inédito para una de las herramientas de creación de newsletters más populares y utilizadas en el mundo informático: MailChimp. Los asistentes se sorprenderán al descubrir de qué formas y en qué medida puede esta plataforma gratuita ayudar en su investigación familiar.
Personalmente, creo que se trata de algo más que dos clases en castellano dentro de la feria de Genealogía y Tecnología más importante del mundo. Creo que es una cuota de participación, pequeña pero que a la vez dobla la de la pasada edición, del mundo hispano en un evento en el que necesita estar. Y una prueba de que la Genealogía hispana está creciendo y ha aprendido a mirar hacia un futuro en el que su riquísimo legado se encuentre accesible y arropado por numerosos recursos en castellano que permitan avanzar cualquier investigación.

The large Hispanic community along with the numerous Spanish
descendants in North America , and those from
Latin American countries following the news from RootsTech, deserve a place in this
mosaic of backgrounds and pedigrees. Fortunately, the organizers were able to
see to that in the 2013 conference, hosting the first session
in Spanish that, with the title “Find Spanish records from your couch",
laid the foundation for future years.
I had the privilege of being the one who gave that lecture, and was
pleasantly surprised with the enthusiasm and desire that we Spanish speakers have
for content in our language, be it conferences, resources, software ...
In the coming days, I will be once again one of the speakers at
RootsTech 2014, and honestly, I'm very excited and proud to speak to the
Hispanic community and share information I am sure will be very valuable and
enriching for your family search.
The first class," 5 essential resources in Hispanic
Genealogy," will have five experts from different geographic areas -
Chile/Peru, Argentina, Central America, Mexico and Spain - meet for the first
time in a hangout (videoconference) and share five resources capable of providing
data and clues to researchers from many Hispanic countries . RootsTech has taken
into account the interest in this class and it, along with others, will be re-broadcast
in hundreds of family history centers throughout 2014.
“MailChimp and family newsletters ", the second of the scheduled programs
in our language at this conference, will propose an unprecedented use of the creation
tools from one of the most popular and used newsletters in the computer world:
MailChimp. Attendees will be surprised to discover in what ways and to what
extent this free platform can help your family research.
Personally, I think this is more than two classes in Spanish at a most important Genealogy and Technology Fair in the world. I think this is participation, small but at the same time double that of last year, of the Hispanic world at an event at which it needs to be involved. And proof that Hispanic genealogy is growing and has learned to look to a future in which its rich legacy will be accessible and embraced by numerous resources in Spanish that allow any investigation to move forward.
