Did you know that many
churches published souvenir booklets to commemorate anniversaries? Did you realize that these booklets may
mention not only church history and select (if not all) current members of the
church?
I was
reminded of this when I read Six clues church
souvenir booklets can give you for genealogy research that I definitely do
not make a point of looking for such publications as frequently as I
should! Such neat and invaluable
information can often be found.
As
usual, this got me interested in what collections might exist for church
souvenir book(lets).
There
are some collections which include several church souvenir books:
Editor’s Note: I suggest that you search on book, booklet, and pamphlet.
A quick
“Google” search on church + souvenir + booklets brought up several entries
including:
+ 90th
Anniversary Souvenir (1840-1930) Evangelical Lutheran St. Paul’s Congregation (New Orleans , LA )
Have you found some neat information (or clues) in a church
souvenir book?
Do you know of additional collections (or resources) for
these books?
