Food and Holidays -- Always a Great Combination -- How to Preserve That "Slice" of Life

With Thanksgiving less than a week away, my noise is twitching and my tummy is rumbling, in anticipation of the culinary delights that will fill our tables for the next couple of months!

A few years ago, as my sisters and I sat around my kitchen table at Christmas, we got talking about our long-deceased mother and the recipes that we fondly remembered as part of our family traditions.  As a result of that, we all sent photos of our mom and the recipes of hers that we each had in our collections to my one sister to compile.

With these, she created a wonderful booklet (the source for the images in this post -- these two chicken recipes were my favorites!).

You or a family member might want to consider doing something like this yourself.  With so many online book publishing services (too many too list) it’s become easier and more affordable than ever!  And, our book is only about 16 pages long and yet packed with so many memories and such a gem!  So, such a book doesn’t have to be a massive tome or take a lot of time!

Want some ideas, check out these posts:

Have you created a family cookbook?  Tell us about it – how you did it, the reaction you received, etc!

  1. Love your book! I keep meaning to create a similar book using my Mum's old handwritten recipes. In the run up to getting married, she and her mother wrote out lots of useful recipes - it's like a personal cooking manual :-) Jo
