October is Family History Month—the ideal time to get more
engaged in discovering your past—and NGS is excited to celebrate the month with
you. We've made free resources available on the NGS website and invite you to
use them.
Visit our Family History Month page to download a series of
five PDFs, including a new one for 2026, designed to help you explore,
preserve, and share your family history. These resources provide ideas and
easy-to-follow steps to participate in our community and make common projects
manageable and successful. Use these PDFs yourself and share them to inspire
friends and family. Or, use them with your genealogy society, family
association, library, museum, or archive to help reach more people and welcome
them to your organization.

Celebrate this October by taking a moment to begin or
restart a project. It’s easy to put off tasks and think they’ll wait until
tomorrow. But as we’re often reminded, the best time is now.
Happy Family History Month!
