A 100-year-old mystery solved by DNA testing!

A 100-year-old mystery solved by DNA testing!

DNA testing can reveal surprises.  Some we might be prepared for and some maybe not.

The story of Alice Collins Piebuch as told in the piece She thought she was Irish – until a DNA test opened a 100-year-old mystery, Washington Post, 27 July 2017, reminds us that DNA results can challenge us to interpret them.

And, as summarized by Angie Bush (our NGS DNA expert), “it's unwise to dismiss ethnicity results completely. There can be situations where those results are highly informative.”

On the Facebook page of Angie Bush, The Legal Genealogist, Judy G. Russell, shared some posts created in 2015 telling the stories from Alice’s viewpoint and from Jess’ viewpoint.

·        And Who Would’ve Thought … It Figures (A Strange Kind of Pilgrimage, 22 Jan 2015), https://strangepilgrimage.wordpress.com/2015/01/22/and-who-wouldve-thought-it-figures/

DNA can be a wonderful tool.  And, no guarantee though that it won’t come with some surprises.
