We are frequently challenged by the women in our family trees, especially when it comes to determining their maiden names! I have several projects right now where that is the goal – determine great great aunt Minnie’s maiden name (and no its not Mouse!).
William Dollarhide, via the GenealogyBlog as shared a basic checklist of places where you might look!
Some other resources include:
- Five Tips for Learning Women's Maiden Names (article)
- Finding the Maiden Names of Women in Your Family Tree (video)
- Top 10 Places to Find Maiden Names (article)
Have you had success determining someone’s maiden name after a lot of research? If so, please share!
Do you have other “tips” to help Upfront with NGS readers successfully research maiden names? If so, again, please share!
