Like The Ancestry
Insider, I attended FGS at
One of many topics discussed was the “Source Citation Progress Report” for FamilySearch [link is to a
report by The Ancestry Insider about this].
Citations are critical to our understanding of the “quality”
of what we are examining and also to give us provenance for the information.
There has been criticism that FamilySearch hadn’t been doing
enough to provide adequate citations for the materials they are making
available via their FamilySearch website.
FamilySearch appears to be “hearing” these comments and is making
progress to present its users with complete and genealogical sound citations.
Do read the aforementioned blog post to see what changes in
citing have been accomplished and future plans.
