A great way to pursue your
Revolutionary War ancestors can be via seeing what lineage applications have
been filed by others!
To help you with that, Ancestry.com has FREE access to Sons
of the American Revolution (SAR) database until July 7th! You can browse this collection now!
See who a lineage application has been filed for. See what source information was used in
support of the application.
Editor’s Note: Do
recognize that many lineage societies, including the SAR and DAR have stricter
requirements on documentation and proof than is often found in older
applications. Do check the current “proof”
requirements for any lineage society you seek to join. If nothing else, older applications can
provide great clues to the records you will need in support of your own
application!
