Two recent articles talk about a fascinating concept. As Angie Bush (one of our NGS Directors who happens to be a DNA gurus states) “Shriver and his team are using DNA to reconstruct what individuals look like based on their genetics. If you combine that with ancestral genome reconstruction, we might be able to someday produce pictures of what our ancestors looked like - even if they didn’t have a photograph taken.”
Doesn’t that sound neat? I have 20th century ancestors that I don’t have images of never mind anyone who lived earlier. We weren’t the type of family to have paintings made! Wouldn’t it be fun to see what “characteristics” have been passed down through the generations? Who was the source of my mom’s dimples or how my great great grandmother tilted her head? So many questions and yet, I suspect many of you are in my same situation, few to no images to work from.
