Library of Congress has a NEW home page -- check it out!

Library of Congress has a NEW home page -- check it out!

We often talk about the Library of Congress and what a great resource it is for family history researchers.

It’s just redesigned the home page for its website.  This was shared via a teaser on FB last week …

Our new home page will launch on November 1. One of the things we love about it is that the featured content will change often. We have so many voices we want you to hear from & lots of great collections we want you to see. The new page helps us do more of that. Sound good?

What do you think?  Is the redesign a success?  It’s definitely a more visually interesting place to visit and I do enjoy the highlighted elements.  I had no idea there was a Photochrom Prints collection!

Contains almost 6,000 views of Europe and the Middle East and 500 views of North America. Published primarily from the 1890s to 1910s, these prints were created by the Photoglob Company in Zürich, Switzerland, and the Detroit Publishing Company in Michigan. The richly colored images look like photographs but are actually ink-based photolithographs, usually 6.5 x 9 inches.

I think this website will now become an even more dangerous place to visit.  I can see hours and hours of my time spent visiting the so many collections I don't know about.  How about you?

What’s your impression of the new LOC home page?
