New at NGS Videos— Becoming a Genealogist: My Father’s Journey, with Jan Alpert

Jan's Dad when he was 43 and appeared on the cover of the Illinois Bell employees magazine

Father’s Day is June 19th, and NGS invites you to get out the tissues and share in our celebration of fathers by viewing the newest in online video interview series—Becoming a Genealogist: My Father’s Journey.

It is Jan Alpert’s tribute to her father who brought her to genealogy through his search for his mother’s family. It is a story of a daughter’s love for her father and of her father’s devotion to the memory of his mother who died when he was three.

Jan is the immediate past president of NGS and served as chair of the annual NGS Family History Conference in Charleston, May 2011. She retired in 2004 from a thirty-five-year career in the title insurance industry. We are grateful for her service and leadership at NGS.
